Hardwood and water do not get along. The floor can look almost dry and still be moving.

Restore Pro SD matches you with a licensed independent restoration professional. We do not send a brand crew. The customer contracts with that professional.

Direct answers

Cupping. Edges higher than the center. Often moisture from below. Ask the independent professional whether they think the floor can flatten as it dries, and what they measured in the subfloor. See wet subfloor.

Crowning. Center higher than the edges. Ask them what that pattern means for this species and this finish.

Buckling. Boards lift off the subfloor. Ask whether they recommend removal rather than drying in place. This page does not promise a save.

Power. CDC guidance is not to switch power on or off while standing in water. EPA guidance is to fix leaks as soon as possible and dry items completely.

What to ask

  • How they will dry the floor without cooking the finish.
  • Whether the finish has to come up.
  • What nearby dry floor they will use as a baseline.
  • Whether a hardwood specialist, not the restoration pro, should decide refinishing.

Structural drying is the equipment and readings conversation. Restore Pro SD does not refinish floors.

Insurance is the policy

Photograph the cause and the damage. Ask your carrier what your contract covers.

When to call

If the floor is cupped, buckled, or still smells after a leak, get a moisture assessment before you sand or recap it.
