You knocked over a pot near the sink and mopped it in five minutes. Or a supply line let go under the vanity and the cabinet base is swollen. Those are not the same job.
Restore Pro SD matches you with a licensed independent restoration professional. We do not send a brand crew. The customer contracts with that professional.
Direct answers
Small, clean, caught immediately. Towels or a shop vac, then air. Feel nearby baseboards the next day. If it is dry to the touch and there is no musty smell, you may be done.
Power. CDC guidance is not to switch power on or off while standing in water.
If sewage or other contaminated water caused the damage. EPA guidance is to call a professional experienced with that work. Do not treat that as a mop-and-fan job.
Hidden wet materials. Ask an independent professional to take moisture readings, not guess from the surface. Structural drying is that work.
When DIY is actually fine
A glass of water on hardwood you wiped immediately. A sink overflow you stopped before it left the tile. The source is clean. You got to it fast. EPA still says dry items completely.
If outdoor air is already wet (a marine-layer morning in Ocean Beach or Pacific Beach), closing windows and using the AC dry setting is often smarter than opening the house. That is a climate observation, not a drying guarantee.
Where household fans stop helping
A box fan moves air. It does not remove moisture from the air. Water in drywall, subfloor, or joist bays can stay wet after the floor looks dry. Ask the independent professional how they will dry those assemblies, and what nearby dry material they will use as a baseline.
This page does not quote dehumidifier capacities, wood moisture percentages, or a drying-day clock. Those belong to the assessment.
Insurance is the policy
Photograph the cause and the damage. Ask your carrier what your contract covers. Restore Pro SD does not file the claim.
When to call
If water reached another room, the floor feels soft, you smell must after a leak, or you cannot find the shutoff, get a moisture assessment.
